National Telecommunicator Week 2022
LAKE OSWEGO - April 10, 2022 through April 16, 2022 is National Telecommunicator Week. In 2019, the Lake Oswego City Council issued a proclamation designating the Lake Oswego Communications (LOCOM) telecommunicators as "First Responders." This designation recognizes the incredible work that these professionals do every day offering a variety of life-saving instructions to citizens in crisis, from CPR to childbirth to choking. They truly are our first, first responders!
Chief Dale Jorgensen said, "This week is National Telecommunicator Week, a week set aside to acknowledge the professionalism of our 911 dispatchers. Telecommunication professionals are dedicated to helping citizens and emergency responders when they need it most, serving as the first point of contact in situations where seconds can save lives. They quickly and calmly obtain information from callers needing law enforcement, fire and emergency medical responses. Our LOCOM telecommunicators are truly one of the gems of our department. Their professionalism and selfless service is worthy of celebrating and recognizing."
