Pedestrian Seriously Injured When Struck By Vehicle
LAKE OSWEGO - On Monday, August 21, 2023, at about 6:31 p.m., a pedestrian was crossing the street on 2nd Street at B Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian, a 73-year-old Lake Oswego woman, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital (OHSU) where her condition was last described as critical but stable.
After the crash, the driver remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with investigators. When interviewed, she told police that she never saw the pedestrian. At this time there have been no arrests made or citations issued and the investigation is continuing.
It is imperative that drivers watch out for pedestrians as they drive, particularly at intersections. Proactively looking for pedestrians can help prevent a tragedy from occurring. Coincidentally, our officers conducted a pedestrian safety operation at this intersection about a month ago, during which 40 drivers were warned or cited for failing to stop or remain stopped for a pedestrian.
