Results of Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operation

LAKE OSWEGO – The Police Department conducted a Pedestrian Safety Operation on B Avenue at Second Street from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. The operation is partially funded by a traffic safety grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Impact. The primary focus of this operation is to raise awareness about pedestrian safety and to reduce the number of auto/pedestrian crashes within the City of Lake Oswego.

During the operation, officers contacted 50 drivers for several different violations. There were 20 citations and 20 warnings issued for failing to stop and remain stopped for a pedestrian, there were 7 citations and 2 warnings issued for operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile electronic device, and there were 8 citations and 10 warnings issued for several other violations.
