School Resource Officer
Working out of the Patrol Support Division, the School Resource Officer (SRO) is a full-time position that performs in three primary roles: law enforcement officer, law-related counselor, and law-related educator. The SRO interacts with the City's youth and school officials to foster a relationship between students, school administration, parents, and other governmental agencies. In addition, the SRO collaborates with the school administration and the community as a resource for safety and security issues. The SRO will assist the school administration in maintaining a safe and secure environment through a highly visible presence to deter or identify trespassers and threats on campus. In addition, the SRO will provide a service to the surrounding community by addressing concerns related to youth from the school.
You can learn a bit more about who the SROs are and what they do by watching this 3-minute video produced by the Lake Oswego School District.
