Millennium Plaza Park
9am Staging, 10am Parade
Celebration continues until 1:30pm
It's time to celebrate our many freedoms and Lake Oswego does this with panache! So don your patriotic colors, decorate your wagons and enjoy an old fashioned 4th of July celebration! Join the fun or watch your friends stroll down A Avenue in the spectacular Parade, which is led by a Lake Oswego Fire Engine. The Parade features an authentic Fife & Drum Band, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, classic cars and more! Keep an eye out for our Mayor, Kent Studebaker and Lake Oswego City Councilors who will be walking in the parade and throwing out candy to spectators! Because the celebration falls on a Saturday this year, guests will have the benefit of joining the Farmers' Market as the parade concludes at Millennium Plaza Park. You won't want to miss the toe tapping Dixieland Music by Dick Saunders and the Sucker Creek Band and the excitement of the annual pie-eating contest! It's sure to be a truly memorable 4th of July.
Parade Staging begins at 9am at Lake Garden Court (off Iron Mtn. Blvd.). If you have a vehicle or float or are a team, club or special interest group who plan to walk together, you must complete a registration form with the Parks & Recreation Department. Space is limited so please limit participation to one vehicle per family or business. To pre-register please contact Debbi Campbell at: 503.534.5287 or email@example.com.
PARADE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR VEHICLES AND LARGE GROUPS (10 or more participants).
The registration deadline is Monday, June 15, 2015.
Pie Eating Contest Details: Back by popular demand! Celebrate the USA with Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation's Sixth Annual Pie Eating Contest. Commemorate our country's independence by racing to complete an "All-American" Pie. Contest participants must be 18 years or older to enter. Register onsite at 11am (after the Star Spangled Parade). Contest begins at noon.
Special thanks to Lakeside Bicycles for sponsoring the Star Spangled Bike Corral
Fireworks Show:The Lake Corporation hosts an annual Fireworks Show on July 4th at approximately 9:45pm. The best viewing is near the Lake Grove Swim Park - fireworks cannot be seen from Millennium Plaza Park, Sundeleaf Plaza or George Rogers Park. Roads in the Lake Grove Swim Park area are restricted, but will have vehicular traffic. Therefore, for public safety, viewing of fireworks from the roadway will not be allowed.
In addition, because of significant danger, no viewing is allowed from the railroad tracks.
