9am Staging, 10am Parade
Celebration at Millennium Park continues until 1:30pm
It's time to celebrate our many freedoms and Lake Oswego does this with panache! So don your patriotic colors, decorate your wagons and enjoy an old fashioned 4th of July celebration! Join the fun or watch your friends stroll down A Avenue in the Star Spangled Parade. The Parade features an authentic Fife & Drum Band, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, classic cars and more! Keep an eye out for our Mayor, Kent Studebaker, and Lake Oswego City Councilors who will be walking in the parade and throwing out candy to spectators!
PARADE REGISTRATION: Completed registration forms are required from all participating vehicles, floats, and large groups. Registration forms were due June 13, and the PARADE IS FULL AT THIS TIME.
If you are an individual family that would like to walk in the parade, you are welcome to join the festivities by coming to Parade Staging. You will be staged with other families. Bikes/trikes/wagons/dogs welcome.
PARADE STAGING: Staging begins at 9am at Lake Garden Court (off Iron Mountain Blvd.). For safety reasons, the entrance onto Iron Mountain Blvd from County Club Road will be closed. All parade participants, including vehicles and floats, must enter the Parade Staging area from Iron Mountain Blvd. See attached map for details.
PARADE PARKING: Parade participants have approval to park any additional vehicles at Christ Episcopal Church (located at 1060 Chandler Road) and Oswego Heritage House (located at 398 10th Street).
CANDY: Participants are welcome to throw individually wrapped candy to parade watchers. Please be sure to throw candy to the curb. Please consider tossing candy that will not melt.
PATRIOTIC PETS: Pets are welcome to join the fun by dressing up and parading with their owners down A Avenue toward the front of the parade. Pets in costume have an opportunity to win a prize by registering at the Animal Care Group booth in Millennium Plaza after the parade. Thank you to Animal Care Group, 3996 Douglas Way, for sponsoring this exciting new addition to our Star Spangled Celebration!
STAR SPANGLED CELEBRATION (10:30am-1:30pm): Numerous festivities take place at Millennium Plaza Park after the conclusion of the parade. Enjoy the fun including live music from The Coastline, a pie eating contest, face painting, balloon animals and more! Cuisine available for purchase from Blue Raeven Farmstand, Dogs & Fries, Juiceahhlicious and Klassic Kettlecorn.
PIE EATING CONTEST: Celebrate the USA with Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation's Sixth Annual Pie Eating Contest. Commemorate our country's independence by racing to complete an "All-American" Pie. Contest participants must be 18 years or older to enter. Register onsite at 11am (after the Star Spangled Parade). Contest begins at noon.
