A repaving project along A Avenue between State and Tenth Streets in Lake Oswego will begin July 16, affecting local travel. For current information on the construction timeline and impacts go to: https://www.ci.oswego.or.us/publicworks/avenue-rehabilitation-project .
The project includes grinding and repaving, installing a turn lane from eastbound A Avenue to northbound Third Street, catch basin replacement, and modifications to pedestrian ramps at intersections.
In addition to working weekdays between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., the contractor may work some Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. but only between Fourth and Tenth Streets to minimize impacts to the Lake Oswego Farmers’ Market. There will be occasional night work, Monday through Thursdays, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., for paving work and work requiring total lane closures. The night work will help lessen construction impacts on local businesses and traffic, and allow the contractor to complete the work more quickly. Traffic signs will provide travelers information on closures and detours.
A Avenue, which serves over 20,000 daily vehicle trips, was identified in 2010 as badly in need of repair. This repaving project will extend the street’s lifetime and postpone major reconstruction for several years.
The work will be completed by Labor Day. For more information, contact the construction hotline at 503-635-0261, or Crystal Shum, Project Manager.
