Celebrate Drinking Water Week May 3-9

Drinking Water Week: From the Clackamas River to Your Tap

May 3–9 is Drinking Water Week, and the City of Lake Oswego is taking a moment to celebrate the remarkable journey water makes before it ever reaches your tap.
Every drop begins in the Clackamas River — one of Oregon's most pristine water sources. From there, it travels through an extensive network of treatment, pumping stations, storage reservoirs, and underground pipes, guided every step of the way by a dedicated team of water professionals working around the clock to keep it safe and flowing.

A River Worth Protecting

Oregon is facing drought conditions this summer, and the Clackamas River is feeling the strain. Lower flows mean greater stress on the river's ecosystem and increased pressure on the water systems that depend on it. Every gallon conserved helps — fixing leaks, watering less, and running full dishwasher loads all add up when a whole community pitches in.
