New Garbage Rates Starting January 1, 2023

At its November 15 meeting, City Council approved an adjustment to garbage, recycling, and organics collection service rates charged by Republic Services.

Residential customers will see an increase on their bi-monthly bills of approximately 5% starting January 1, 2023. This equates to a $1.81 increase per month for customers with a 35-gallon cart. Rate increases are due to rising costs of disposal and recycling processing, fuel, wages, and inflation.

Your charges are based on the size of your garbage container. To change the size of your container, contact Republic Services at 503-636-3011.

Commercial container rates will increase by an average of 10%, including a 5.17% increase for all container sizes and an additional charge of $1.25 per yard to cover organics collection and subsidized rates for Lake Oswego schools. Commercial container rates will now include commercial organics (food scraps) collection in addition to garbage and recycling.
