Boards & Commissions
Nearly 100 Lake Oswego residents serve on an Advisory Board or Commission each year. These volunteers ensure the City Council moves in sync with the community, advising on issues related to the charge of their Board and offering perspective on the needs of their neighbors.
Applications for 2025 appointments are now closed. Click below to receive an email when our next recruitment cycle opens (April 2026) and to learn about other opportunities to get involved with the City.
Five Advisory Boards reserve positions for youth members. This one-year experiential learning opportunity, designed for high school sophomores and juniors, provides a first-hand look into City operations. While learning, youth members advise and vote on issues related to the charge of their Board – helping to ensure the needs of Lake Oswego’s next generation are factored into the decisions we make today.
Committees & Commissions
Lake Oswego has three state-mandated bodies which are responsible for reviewing changes related to municipal spending and land use.
Advisory Boards
The City Council has seven standing advisory bodies that develop issue-specific recommendations, champion City Council goals, and act as conduits of community needs.
Task Forces
The City Council will periodically create a task force to study a specific issue in-depth. Task Forces usually have clear deliverables and a short timeline.
