This May, the City of Lake Oswego is proud to celebrate the history, achievements and contributions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander people. The AANHPI umbrella term includes cultures from the entire Asian continent including East, Southeast and South Asia and the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia.

In 2006, May was officially proclaimed as Jewish American Heritage Month. This designation serves as an opportunity to to recognize and honor the enduring contributions, rich cultural traditions and remarkable resilience of Jewish Americans throughout our nation’s history.

In 2021, Arab American Heritage Month became federally recognized and in July of the same year, Oregon became the second state to permanently recognize Arab American Heritage Month. The City of Lake Oswego honors the contributions and celebrates our local community of Arab Americans.

March is Women's History Month. We encourage everyone to honor the legacy of women who changed the world by contributing to the economic, cultural, and social development of our society and to support the women who contribute to our future.

February 2026 is the 100th anniversary of the United States celebrating Black History Month. This year, we honor a century of lifting up the history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans.
The City invites you to celebrate Black voices and Black History month. Read more about this federally recognized holiday and enjoy a number of events, including:

In November, join the City in honoring the rich and diverse culture and heritage of the Native American community. The contributions of the Native American community have greatly enhanced the quality and character of Lake Oswego, the Pacific Northwest and our entire nation.
The City invites you to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 to October 15.

Join us on Sunday, June 7, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Millennium Plaza Park, for Pride LO.
This event brings people together for an afternoon of connection, inclusion, and celebration. Pride LO uplifts LGBTQIA+ voices through performances, community booths, activities, and opportunities to connect in a welcoming environment.
The City is proud to partner with LO for LOve to support this inclusive community event.
