Court Process
The Municipal Court processes citations, reschedules arraignments, sets trials and maintains court records. The court collects and disburses fines, fees and assessments. It works cooperatively with the City Prosecutor, Clackamas County agencies, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Court Schedule
The clerks' office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday except weekends and legal holidays. Court is in session every Wednesday beginning at 8:15 a.m. and continuing until all cases are heard. Jury trials are held on Mondays beginning at 8:15 a.m.
Citations
Citations fall into two categories: Violations and crimes.
Fines
The size of the fine imposed by the court will depend on the severity of the offense, whether state law requires a minimum fine for the offense, whether there are any mitigating circumstances, and whether the person has been convicted of prior offenses.
Jury Duty
Jury trials are scheduled on Mondays, and almost always conclude the same day. The Court selects 20 jurors for each trial from a list of qualified jurors who are Lake Oswego citizens.
