Streets
The Lake Oswego street system includes more than 178 miles of streets and 23.7 miles of pedestrian pathways. The streets are classified as major and minor arterials, major collectors, neighborhood collectors and local residential streets.
Public Works Maintenance is responsible for maintaining pavement which includes striping, markings, potholes and repair along with brush removal, street signs, and sweeping.
Public Works Maintenance crews provide street sweeping to keep streets clean and free of debris. Sweeping improves air quality by removing airborne particles and improves water quality by keeping debris out of storm water lines and creeks.
Our Public Works Department diligently follows weather reports, monitors local weather stations and road conditions, prepares for, and is ready to respond to winter weather events.

A "Block Party" is a gathering organized by residents of the neighborhood abutting the street to be closed, for their enjoyment. If you are interested in having a block party or would like more information about how to apply for a Block Party Permit, please follow the link below.

Sidewalks are the responsibility of the adjacent property owner to maintain and keep free of debris. Broken sidewalks that are damaged by tree roots or other causes should be repaired to provide safe pedestrian access.
Please note: The City of Lake Oswego prohibits blowing, raking, sweeping, or depositing yard debris onto City sidewalks or streets (LOC 42.06.310 and 34.02.035(20)).

The City of Lake Oswego Public Works is responsible for maintaining the street lights in Lake Oswego.
Street Trees/ROW Trees are an important amenity to the City. They provide shade, habitat, and beauty. Street trees in the right-of-way adjacent to the property are the responsibility of the property owner to maintain.
The City of Lake Oswego owns 32 traffic signals. To report any problems with traffic signals, please call Lake Oswego Police Department's non-emergency phone number at 503-635-0238 (LOCOM). If you are unable to get ahold of LOCOM, call Clackamas County at 503-655-8211.
The City also owns and maintains over 7,000 street signs. If you see any leaning, damaged or missing street signs, please call Lake Oswego Public Works at 503-635-0280. In addition, if vegetation is blocking the line of sight for a street sign, please contact Public Works,
The City of Lake Oswego’s transportation system plan (TSP) is an important document for long-range planning purposes as well as a tool for current developments. It provides a snapshot of the existing system, immediate changes, and future plans into year 2035.
The City continues to work toward its goal of improving the condition of local streets. As a tool to reach that goal, the City established a Local Street Reconstruction Program.
