Constructed in 1971, South Shore Fire Station (Station 212) is the oldest of Lake Oswego's four fire stations. Over the last forty years, through strategic investment, the Fire Department has extended the life of this facility. However, there are substantial structural and life-safety deficiencies that cannot be addressed through renovation.
Upon reviewing facility assessments and recommendations from the community South Shore Fire Station Task Force (Task Force), the City of Lake Oswego has determined that the existing building has reached the end of its functional life and that improvements are needed to maintain Lake Oswego Fire Department's ability to effectively respond to medical, fire, and life safety emergencies.
After exploring project costs and gauging community support, the City is pursuing building a new station at the current South Shore Fire Station location.

The South Shore Fire Station Task Force identified a number of deficiencies with the current South Shore Fire Station.
Preliminary election results are in and Lake Oswego voters have passed Measure 3-635. Because of our community's investment, the City of Lake Oswego will move forward with building a new seismically sound South Shore Fire Station to better protect our community and our first responders.
Once the election is officially certified, the City will move forward with issuing bonds, final design, permitting, and construction.
Thank you to the South Shore Fire Station Task Force, our dedicated fire crews, and most importantly, the voters for your trust and support in building a safer tomorrow.
