Landscape Equipment Survey
Over the past few years, community members have raised concerns around the use of gas-powered landscaping equipment in Lake Oswego. These concerns include noise levels, air pollution, and impacts on the health of equipment users, among others. In response to these concerns, the City Council’s 2025 adopted goals included the following initiative:
Develop an operational plan, potential code options and communications strategy to phase out use of gas-powered yard and lawn care equipment in Lake Oswego after the City of Portland's ban goes into effect. This project should have a two-year time frame.
To inform this work, we want to hear from residents, property owners, and landscaping businesses that operate in Lake Oswego about their experience and perspectives on the transition from gas- to electric landscaping equipment.
The goal of this survey is to:
- Gather input to help inform policy options to phase out use of gas-powered landscaping equipment in Lake Oswego.
- Identify possible incentives and educational programs that could facilitate the transition to battery-electric landscaping equipment and other sustainable alternatives to gas-powered equipment.
There are two versions of this survey, one for residents and property managers and one for landscaping businesses. Click the link below to fill out the survey that applies to you. Please note that this is a slightly updated version of a survey that the City's Sustainability Advisory Board conducted in 2022.
