Notes on back: The corner of State and A in Oswego sometime in the 1890s. The men and horses were starting excavation for the brick building - the bank, with the opera upstairs - that stood on the corner and burned down years ago. On the left, showing dimly, is the office of the Oswego Ironworker, Oswego's first newspaper. Over on the corner of First and B is the Johnson Hotel, which was torn down a few years ago for the Safeway parking lot.
