2024 Board & Commission Appointees Begin Their Terms
June 25, 2024 – LAKE OSWEGO CITY HALL
Five days before their terms begin, Mayor Joe Buck hosted Boards & Commissions appointees for their first official duty -- orientation.
After the City Council unanimously affirmed the appointment of 45 community members on June 18th, new and returning members gathered to discuss their responsibilities. Conversation ranged from the City Council goals to the ethics of public service, concluding with a gathering of the youth members serving on advisory boards.
The Mayor expressed gratitude for members' willingness to show up for their community in this capacity, emphasizing that these positions are a critical part of the City Council's deliberative and decision-making processes.
2024 Selection Process & Outcome
Applicants were evaluated by search committees consisting of two City Councilors, the Chair of the Board or Commission for which they applied, a member of the DEI Advisory Board, and the Staff Liaison to their Board or Commission.
Selected candidates bring extensive experience related to the charge of their board, strong collaboration skills, a passion for this community, and a developed vision for how the work of their Advisory Board or Commission can advance Council-defined priories related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
From a pool of ninety applicants, the City Council selected the following highly-qualified community members for terms ranging from one to four years (terms expire on June 30 of the year in parentheses):

With these appointments, all voting and alternate positions on Lake Oswego Advisory Boards and Commissions are filled through June 2025. Next cycle, 22 full, 10 youth, and 20 alternate terms are projected to open.
