Go sLOw: 20 is Plenty

On September 2, 2025, the Lake Oswego City Council approved an ordinance to lower the speed limit on local residential streets and some neighborhood collectors in Lake Oswego from 25 miles per hour (mph) to 20 mph.

Public Works crews are rolling out the Go sLOw speed reduction program, moving clockwise one neighborhood at a time. Phase 1 includes replacing existing 25 MPH signs; Phase 2 (next year) will add new posts and additional signs. The full rollout of the program runs through 2026.

New speed limits take effect as soon as the signs change.

Wastewater Treatment Facility Project

Lake Oswego, with Portland’s support, has been using a phased project approach to replace the aging Tryon Creek plant with an environmentally sustainable wastewater treatment facility, at a good value to the community. The first phase of the project is now complete, which included developing facility designs, preliminary permitting, and proposed pricing for the Wastewater Treatment Facility Project.

For the second phase of the project, Lake Oswego will explore a competitive procurement method using public financing, to complete the design, construct the facility, and operate and maintain the facility under a long-term contract.
