Friends of the Library

Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library assist the Library in fulfilling its mission through advocacy, funding, promotion, and volunteer support.

The Friends Make More Possible:

Provide direct financial assistance for needs not covered in the Library's operating budget. In the past year, the Friends approved a total of $69,244 in grants supporting Lake Oswego Public Library programs and events, which included a special matching grant of $7,744 supporting the Lake Oswego Reads youth expansion. Donations directly supported over 100+ opportunities for the community, including multilingual programs for youth and families, cultural events, "Books for Babies", First Tuesday musical performances, author events, sponsorship of Lake Oswego Reads and the Summer Library Challenge, and more.

Raise money and provide volunteer services to the Library. The Booktique is a significant fundraising arm of the Friends of Lake Oswego Public Library. Books are donated to the store by community members and the store is staffed by volunteers. The purchase of used books directly supports the Library through grants and program funding.

Advocate for the Library at the local level for increased financial support. The Friends raise funds year-round through the Booktique, annual giving campaigns, and ongoing member outreach. All contributions to the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library, a qualified 501(c)(3) organization, qualify as a tax-deductible contribution. Join the 300+ Friends who support the Library: https://friendslopl.org/join-us
