Lake Oswego Police Investigate Assault and Fatal House Fire
LAKE OSWEGO- On Thursday, August 14, 2025, Lake Oswego Police responded to reports of a domestic assault at a residence on Timberline Drive that resulted in a fatal house fire.
At 10:27 P.M, Lake Oswego Communications (LOCOM) received a call from a woman reporting that her boyfriend just assaulted her and she was able to safely leave the location. Officers responded and made contact with the suspect by phone, and he began making threatening statements toward officers. Officers requested additional assistance, and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, West Linn Police, Tualatin Police, and Oregon City Police responded.
Clackamas County Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) contacted the suspect by phone while he remained inside the residence and refusing to come out. During the incident the suspect made threats he was going to set the house on fire and officers on scene reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the residence. The SWAT team assisted with getting fire resources in place until fire crews could safely engage. Lake Oswego Fire Department, with the assistance of Portland Fire and Rescue, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and American Medical Response responded to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Once the fire was extinguished, the suspect was found deceased in the home. His identification is not being released at this time pending notifications.
This was a very complicated incident, and we appreciate the assistance from our law enforcement and fire department partners to help minimize the impact of this terrible incident.
