Go sLOw: 20 is Plenty

On September 2, 2025, the Lake Oswego City Council approved an ordinance to lower the speed limit on local residential streets and some neighborhood collectors in Lake Oswego from 25 miles per hour (mph) to 20 mph.

Reducing speeds through the 20 is Plenty program is a 2025 City Council goal. Lower speed limits on residential streets can lead to safer travel conditions for everyone using the street, as well as encouraging a more comfortable environment for people walking, rolling, and riding.

Only Rain Down the Drain!

Did you know that water entering our storm catch basins flows untreated directly into our local creeks, rivers, lakes, and oceans untreated? That means pollutants like trash, motor oil, chemicals, and yard waste go straight into the environment—harming wildlife, our water supply, and the places we swim. Help keep our waterways clean by following this simple rule: Only rain down the drain.

  • No pool or hot tub water (chlorinated, brominated, copper-treated, or heated)
  • No litter, leaves, or yard waste
  • No fertilizers or pesticides
  • No soaps or household cleaners
  • No pet waste

Discharging the above is considered an illicit discharge and can result in fines.

Wastewater Treatment Facility Project

Lake Oswego, with Portland’s support, has been using a phased project approach to replace the aging Tryon Creek plant with an environmentally sustainable wastewater treatment facility, at a good value to the community. The first phase of the project is now complete, which included developing facility designs, preliminary permitting, and proposed pricing for the Wastewater Treatment Facility Project.

For the second phase of the project, Lake Oswego will explore a competitive procurement method using public financing, to complete the design, construct the facility, and operate and maintain the facility under a long-term contract.
