Lunar New Year, celebrated by an estimated 1.5 billion people worldwide, begins with the second new moon after the winter solstice. Marking the start of a new year in the Eastern Zodiac, with 2025 ushering in the Year of the Snake, this holiday is known as Spring Festival (春节) in China and often referred to as Chinese New Year in America.  While rooted in Chinese traditions, Lunar New Year is celebrated across many Eastern countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam (where it is called Tết), and South Korea (where it is known as Seollal).  In each country, and increasingly in the United States, people honor the occasion with customs that emphasize family, food, and good fortune, reflecting shared themes of renewal and hope for the year ahead.

This festival was organized in collaboration with the Asian Art & Culture Foundation, FASCA (Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors), Lake Oswego School District, and LO for LOve and is sponsored by the City of Lake Oswego and the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library.  Floral arrangements created and donated by Diane (Wang) Dixon.  Admission is free.  The Adult Community Center is located at 505 G Avenue, Lake Oswego.
