Traditional Kalapuya/Coos Storyteller and Drumming - 2/27

Saturday, February 27, 2016 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Very little is known about dances and music of Kalapuya. Ancestors who went to the reservations quickly adopted European ways and quit singing and dancing. Esther Stutzman tells stories to non-Indian groups as a way to tell the truth about the tribal culture of the Kalapuya/Coos. Esther's daughter, Shannin Stutzman, is a traditional dancer/drummer and uses Native American music to enhance storytelling presentations.
